Summer Books for Men

From Jeff Robinson at the Gender Blog:

One of the great pleasures of summer for many of us is that there is often more free time than usual which means more time for reading good books. Over the next several days, Gender Blog will present its annual reading lists for men, women and children, beginning today and continuing later this week with reading for men in two parts. If you are looking for a thoughtful gift to present to dad on Father’s day this Sunday, a good read is usually appreciated.

He then gives details on four books:

  •  The Last Stand: Custer, Sitting Bull, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn by Nathaniel Philbrick (Viking, 2010).
  •  The Masculine Mandate: God’s Calling to Men by Richard D. Phillips (Reformation Trust, 2010).
  •  Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas (Thomas Nelson, 2010).
  •  The Corporal was a Pitcher: The Courage of Lou Brissie by Ira Berkow (Triumph, 2009).
