Gentlemen, Let Us Storm Heaven

Gentlemen, let us storm heaven to pray for our wives. Jesus does it for His bride, God commands it implicitly in the meaning of marriage, and we (and our wives) need it.

By our nature, however, we are lazy and foolish in prayer. Andrew Case is here to help. He’s written a book, Water of the Word, to help us pray for our wives. This morning, I read this excellent prayer, crafted from Nehemiah 9:

Let my dear wife stand up and bless You our God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be Your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. You are the LORD, You alone. You have made her. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and You preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships You.

Thank You for preserving my wife, for keeping her as Your chosen, for directing her steps on the narrow way. Please continue to preserve her life! For You are the LORD, the God who chose her and brought her out of darkness and made her heart faithful before You. Thank You that You have kept the promises that are hers in Christ Jesus, for You are righteous. I praise You that You are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and have not departed from her. Even when she strays and her heart grows dull, You in Your great mercies have not forsaken her. Therefore, keep on making a name for Yourself through her, and instruct her with Your good Spirit. Amen.

Andrew’s scriptural prayers for wives, husbands, and children are avaliable on his website.
